Marcy Odyssey is a long-exposure photograph capturing a (J) train departing Marcy Avenue Station toward Manhattan, with the Williamsburg Bridge rising in the background and a multicolor light bar attached to the train creating a vivid trail of motion behind it. The title pays homage to Ellsworth Ausby’s permanent installation Space Odyssey at Marcy Avenue, drawing inspiration from his vision of travel, movement, and the cosmic rhythm of city life. In this piece, the train becomes both vessel and brushstroke, transforming a familiar commute into a luminous journey that reflects the energy, speed, and wonder of New York.
